About Me
Reilly Ackermann is a recent graduate of The Ohio State University, with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Language.
As a campus editor for The Lantern — OSU's independent student newspaper — Ackermann managed reporters, edited stories for daily publication, covered breaking news and contributed to weekly print editions. They are passionate about journalism, storytelling and making an impact through effective reporting.
Her work at The Lantern brought her face-to-face with issues impacting the Columbus area, such as diversity, equity and inclusion rollbacks, Ohio Senate Bill 1 coverage and broader changes in Ohio's public higher education landscape under the Trump administration.
Ackermann also held the position of director of standards for the Sundial Humor Magazine, where they created updated editorial standards, as well as an accountability process rooted in restorative justice.
She hopes to pursue either political reporting abroad in Western Europe or the Middle East, political reporting in the U.S. or reporting on immigration and sharing stories of marginalized communities.
